2012 Kia Rio5 Debuts at a Lowered MSRP

Price cuts are always welcome in the auto industry, but rarely received. As such Team Kia of El Cajon embraces the latest Kia model cost reduction with open arms. That's right. The South Korean automaker recently announced the 2012 five-door hatch version of the Kia Rio four-door sedan will make its debut this month at a $1,440 price cut.
Don't worry. Just because Kia has dropped the green, doesn't mean it's dropped the features. With higher-strength steel and a slightly wider powertrain, the Kia Rio5 actually demands greater presence on the road. The redesigned hatch is armed with a 138-horsepower 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine and comes with a six-speed manual (available on the LX model only) or six-speed automatic transmission option.
Tech-wise, the Rio5 is pretty savvy too; it includes USB and auxiliary ports across all models. And for those who crave even grander gadgets, the EX and SX trims are available with UVO hands-free audio and a rear-view-camera. Lastly, the 2012 Kia Rio SX provides drivers with an optional seven-inch navigation screen.
Though the cost reduction is significant enough alone, it isn't the only factor that makes the Rio5 wallet-friendly; Kia Motors America reported that the new 2012 model will return 31 mpg in city driving and 40 mpg on the highway thanks to added start-stop technology. With a better fuel economy rating and lowered MSRP it's no wonder the Kia model was top 15 "Affordable Small Cars" by U.S. News.
